Starting a Daily Art Practice

January 16, 2026

Over the past 17 years I've made many attempts to create art every day. Some people call them everydays, sketches, or dailies.

The first attempts I made were in 2009 when I tried participating in the Daily Sketch Group on ConceptArt.org.

It was around the same time when I saw that Mike Winkelmann was making art every single day. I've also been inspired by Zach Lieberman, Michael Bierut, and Chris Beaven.

I've never made it longer than a week or two. My perfectionism, indecision, and fear of commitment are my biggest obstacles.

Yesterday I started again on my 43rd birthday. My one rule is to make a finished peice of art every day.
